We thought Fanny was walking a little funny on her right front foot once or twice, but whatever it was must have been in our imagination or corrected itself. Bill roped on her since we spotted it and she’s been fine ever since. Lots of things mysteriously disappear when our various “kids” get a little more attention, right?! Big news: Luke won the Hunter in Hand class last weekend at the Illinois show with two firsts and two seconds. This earned him enough points to qualify for Worlds if we decide to bring him to “the big show.” Good boy, Luke!!! We talked to his trainers and congratulated them on the win. They will be keeping Luke until the world show and Bill will be showing him in the non-pro hunter in hand stallion class! We put the moms and babies out into the big west pasture that has lots of grass now. We’ll gradually build their time on the grass so they don’t founder or colic from eating too much at once. They go out an extra hour each day. After we corral them back into the smaller pasture without grass, chow hound Roxy spends most of the day standing at the gate that separates the two pastures staring at the grass! Pharaoh is really digging his new place, the in/out area at the big barn that he shares with Maggie the Pig. Pharaoh loves being outside and looks happy, alert and active. The neighboring horses, Frosty, Cookie and Java, all came over to check out Pharaoh, and there was only one little squeal between him and Java. The ladies were very happy to see Pharaoh and treated him with the utmost respect. For a split second, all three, Cookie, Frosty and Pharaoh, were nose to nose in a three-way kiss. Missed that photo op! |
