Dr. Andy came out to check Penny yesterday and confirmed that there is a healthy little foal in there, about the size of a kitten. And, he’s pretty sure it’s a little filly!! Dr. Andy showed us on the ultrasound screen where everything was – we saw the baby’s head and eyes, her little butt and legs, and what the vet told us was her “female parts.” Way to go Penny!!

Last night we got walloped with that sudden, very intense storm that made its way across Wisconsin. BIG WIND and LOTS OF RAIN, creating a lot of damage. The biggest things are the bee hives toppled – first time in 12 years. Tens of thousands of bees are swarming around the downed hives. Steve the Bee Guy was able to come out this morning to get everyone back together. And then there’s a tree down next to the old outhouse. And a barn wall caved in! Pharaoh and Maggie must have had quite a scare when the west wall of the part of the big old barn closest to the house blew in – cement blocks, no less! We got water in the basement blowing in sideways at the top foundation edge, patio furniture (the heavy kind) in the pasture, much corn is flattened (in circles!) and it became as quiet and still as can be just fifteen minutes later.

Penny, Squeakers, Fanny, Java and Zippy all had their feet trimmed last week. Our farrier is so great, really good with the horses as well as doing excellent work. He is the one that worked with Lucy through her foot problems and developed the special shoes she wears. Everything went well and everybuddy’s feet are looking great.

Bill plans to take Spice and Tux to the Elkhorn Show this weekend. So he has been longing them to get those two ready. They both look great, but Spice is getting really solid (translation: FAT!) which is what the judges seem to like. Luke will be there with our trainer, and should be in even better form now that he is feeling better.
