The farrier will be coming to trim Sandy and Cookie and Frosty this week. We want to make sure the Big Mommas are ready to go into winter before they get too large. Also, we have someone interested in possibly buying Sandy, so she’s getting a vet check next week and we want her all set to go for that. The foals are doing great and sometime soon we will have to separate them from each other so that they grow up without relying on the other. What made the weaning easy might make separation a little harder. They really like each other! Tux and Pharaoh are back in the big barn following the stormy weather we had last week. We had brought them in to the new barn so the other horses could get away from the storm. Pharaoh and Tux both like it over there, but Pharaoh is an especially happy guy in his wee barn kingdom. He has one little minion to boss around (just a tiny bit) and plenty of food, the great outdoors, shelter and no other horses to pick on him. Life is good. Bill and Cindy are commuting to Madison this week for the World Dairy Expo, where they have a BarnCam booth. It is a long, busy show, but a great one for the cams. The cow folks don’t like traipsing out on cold, dark, winter nights to check on calving any more than us horse folks do! Yesterday was FFA day (Future Farmers of America) so the kids get a day off of school to come and see the show. It was really warm out, so many of them were wearing t-shirts. It was fun to read some of the crazy sayings on some of them. One of our favorite was: (FRONT) “Naked and Hungry.” (BACK) “What You’d Be If There Were No Farmers!” How true!!
