Zippy had himself a little adventure recently. He didn’t like the looks of another horse that got too close, so he busted out of the round pen! Zippy reared up a few times to show off and must have knocked one of the panels loose, then broke through and chased the other horse through the empty cornfield and up the road. Mercifully, “George” (the other horse) decided to follow the fence line and turned onto Saddlebrook Lane AWAY from the main road. Bill was able to catch him when he stopped to visit Cookie and Frosty in the front pasture. One of the neighbors had come up at that point and grabbed George, so everyone is safe and sound now. Zippy and George both ended a little scratched up, but nothing more than just a few good scrapes. Got our hearts pumpin’!! Chester and Matilda are getting bigger and bigger. Chester is sporting a great Mohawk hairdo these days. His mane is very long and stands straight up, making him look very fierce even though he is a big mush. Mattie has the same thing going on, only it’s the long hair growing out of her ears! They are so fuzzy that the hair sticks straight out in big tufts. It will be an interesting day when she gets her ears clipped for the first time. Mattie is getting used to the lead rope. Chester took to it pretty fast and was fairly calm with the concept. You could even lead both he and mom Roxy together at the same time without much ado. Mattie was a little nervous at first though, and couldn’t seem to get that the rope wasn’t really going to eat her! With some patience and gentle coaxing over the last week or two, she is leading really well. Luke is headed down to Texas for the World Show with his trainers. Andy & Elizabeth say Luke is all ready. Bill will be showing Luke in non pro hunter in hand stallions on Monday and Elizabeth will be showing him this Friday. Stay tuned for the results! |
