We had the farrier and the vet both here last week. The weanlings had their feet trimmed up for the very first time and both did just great. The farrier said their feet and legs look very nice. The vet gave shots to all three “preggers” (Penny, Cookie and Frosty) to help prevent them from getting the flu. If they were to get sick, they could lose their foals, so we take that precaution every couple of months. As long as the vet was here with a needle, we asked her to deworm Maggie. The pig dewormer is given as an injection and none of us are very comfortable with needles. Maggie griped very loudly the whole time but was otherwise a good patient. And it gave our horse vet a good story to tell! We have had a sudden flurry of customers interested in our horses. We have a woman coming to visit looking for a young broke to ride horse and another woman from Texas that is interested in a weanling. We will keep you posted. Luke is home from the World Show and staying at Andy’s for the time being. We’re not sure whether he will winter at Andy’s or here. There is one more show coming up this month, so we’ll decide after that. The bad lightning storms that went through here last weekend KO’d us big time. In total, our power went out and our Internet went down; cable TV box got blasted and fried somehow and we were without TV except for a fuzzy local station or two. In addition, the Animal Planet server went down last week and they are working on getting that cam restored - on Friday they didn’t know yet what was wrong, exactly; and at the same time, coincidentally, the PayPal program we use for BarnBuddy memberships here at Saddlebrook quit working – not good!!! Bill has spent hours and hours on the phone holding for tech support all weekend and this week, argued/sweet-talked the Software Geek Gods, Holders of All Knowledge but didn’t want to help, and in general just wasted a lot of his time. We hope to get all this resolved ASAP! |
