Lights! Camera! Action! Today marks the start of a new era in BarnBuddydom. We started running our first ever BarnBuddy commercial here on the local cable station. A few new Buddies, hopefully, will be visiting the site and decide to stay. We updated the Become a Buddy Page with a few pictures and refreshed the language to reflect where we are today. Yes indeed, the TV commercial was remarkably easy to do and the time on certain stations like Animal Planet and Discovery Channel was literally a few dollars a day, off-hours. So when you are trying to decide between watching the Ginsu Knives demonstration or the Roomba vacuum cleaner infomercial, there we’ll be! If you chance to see it you may recognize a few little Buddies of our very own – one hails from The Magnificent “M” Queendom here in Wisconsin and another from “Florida Florida” – the producer used old BuddyBash video footage to make the commercial. At any rate, it will run for two weeks and we’ll see what happens. Delight has been limping the last few days so we had the cow vet come out to take a look at her. He got Delight into a stall in the in/out of the big barn while Bill went to get a gate to use as a makeshift chute. (Say that fast three times!!) The vet wanted her as controlled as possible to lessen his chances of getting kicked. Reverse-A-Bull hovered nearby the whole time, gently mooing to his mom for support. The vet trimmed up Delight’s left hind hoof which didn’t show any signs of abscess, but did see some swelling in her knee (“stifle,” technically.) There didn’t seem to be much he could do except put Delight on “bed-rest” for a while. Bill closed off the gate to the big pasture to confine Delight and Reverse, and moved Penny and Squeakers over to the pasture to the west of the house so they’d have a different shelter available. We’ll just have to keep an eye on Delight and see how she progresses. When it rains, it pours, so of course Roxy pulled up lame this week as well. The horse vet came out yesterday to examine her and can’t determine the root cause. To make her more comfortable we will put shoes on the front to raise her feet off the ground, give her some bute for a few days, and change her diet to see if any of these things make her feel better. If these things don’t improve Roxy’s lameness we will take x-rays in two to three weeks to see what else might be going on.
