Many of you have asked after Miss Delight, and she says “thank moo” to everyBuddy. She is better but not quite up to snuff yet - still limping somewhat. We’ve confined her as much as we dare; she and Reverse are in the small paddock near the big barn. If we put her in a stall she would be out in no time or hurt herself in the process. Reverse wouldn’t put up with being separated from her anyway. The paddock is so mucky from all the rain and warm temps, making it difficult for Delight to walk comfortably. Once it gets a bit colder and drier, she will have better footing. The farrier took Luke’s shoes off for the winter. Luke will probably go back to the Chwala’s for spring training and the show season. For a three-year old stallion he sure is well-mannered and did great with the farrier. Fanny and Roxy got their feet trimmed and Roxy also got new shoes. She has been sore-footed in front, and the vet recommended the shoes to give Roxy some support which we hope will make her feel better. The farrier said her feet looked good though – no signs of abscess or bruising. We were happy to hear that!
Susan said she saw Squeakers playing today with a small ziplok bag she picked up in the pasture. She would pick it up and run with it and then when she dropped it she would go fetch it again. She and Penny were running around full blast playing with it, just like you would see two dogs and a ball. She went to get the video camera but of course they dropped the bag for good just as she fired it up!
Cookie isn’t showing dramatic progress yet, but she has been lying down a lot. She is probably very tired at this point. Her tail has been up and down a lot, and we see some gradual udder development every day. We’ll keep the TV on all night now, but we believe it’s a few more days yet…
