Chester arrived in New Mexico at his new home safe and sound. We got a message from his new owner saying that he never stopped drinking water the whole way there, and went right to his food as soon as they stopped. Chester has made himself right at home; Mike said he’s been rubbing up on the side of the barn to get rid of his hairy winter coat! It’s a much different climate and he won’t need it to keep him warm anymore. It looks like Frosty’s little colt is going to be named ZMI Hearts Afire, the contest winner on both the Animal Planet site and ours. Thanks for voting. Now we will have to work on coming up with the perfect barn name!
The horses have been slowly nibbling away the bottom corners of the big bales of hay in the arena and we were afraid that they would tip over. The bales, not the horses. Bill went in and knocked a bale over on purpose and cut away the bale twine so the horses couldn’t step in it. When it went over the tastiest inside hay was exposed so Cookie and Frosty are now gorging themselves of course. That’s OK though; they are both nursing babies and can use a little extra fuel.
We have some visitors here from England right now. Lindy and Mike will be with us until Thursday, and their visit will be a mixture of business and pleasure. It’s great to see them again. Lindy found us on the internet about five years ago and came to visit in 2001. She remembers Drew as a very little guy at that time; actually he learned to sit up during her first visit here and now look at him! Wow, time flies.
