Saddlebrook Appaloosa Horses

• May 18, 2006 - Show UP

Kari, the lady that gives us riding lessons, spent a lot of time with the kids last night getting them ready for the horse show in Jefferson this weekend.  Penny is ready, and the kids are coming along.  It should be pretty exciting. The show will be Sunday morning and we will be bringing Penny over on Saturday.  That will be a super busy day as Joe also had Choir practice and pictures and Susan has a bridal shower.  After all that we will get Penny ready.

Matilda somehow got a cut on her back leg. We’re not quite sure how it happened, but most likely another horse’s hoof found its way there. We had the vet out and she recommended stall rest and antibiotics. Mattie seems to be feeling much better and is shedding like you wouldn’t believe. As soon as we can get what’s left of the hair off of her, I will take some new pictures. Especially of her ONE real spot, which I need for her registration papers.  After all the shots I had to give her, she does not look forward to me coming in the stall, so I think a really good brushing might start to get her to like me again.

A woman from Indiana that just bred her mare to Zippy called us to say that her mare is in foal. She called us right after the vet left her farm to let us know. That is always good news to hear. The lady in Switzerland that had two Zippy babies with frozen semen also bred her mares back to Zippy. Along with the foals that are coming next year here at Saddlebrook, we will be able to enjoy seeing several more ZMI babies around the country and the world!
