Saddlebrook Appaloosa Horses

• August 3, 2006 - Slow Bob RIP

I think I have decided to show Phoebe this month if all goes well.  I haven’t started to train her at all for a show, but if I can get her to trot and stand in the next week, I think I will show her in West Bend, a nice close show. She is really laid back. The biggest hurdle will be getting her used to being separate from Romeo.  She has been separate at night, but tomorrow will be the first time during the day. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well it’s last call for Slow Bob our tractor. It turns out he has a few minor problems and one major one, which will cost about $2000 to fix.  His value however is also $2000 so we are most likely going to instead get a new faster slowbob or maybe even a bobcat.

The flies are really stepping up around here and we have been fly spraying everyone.  It’s that time of year.  The big smelly traps will be going out next, and as you might recall they really catch the flies.  Actually for a long while the fly season seemed to be much smaller then normal, but I think the last couple of rains really woke them up.

We got an email from a woman who recently relocated from Michigan to Wisconsin and is looking for a job in the horse industry. She’s worked as an instructor, trainer and barn manager. It’s always good to know qualified horse people, so we had her out for a visit just to get to know her a little better. Get this – her name is Kate! Guess that was a popular name 20-some years ago. Anyway, she’s very nice and seems quite knowledgeable. We don’t know if anything will work out, but it’s good to have met another horsey Kate. Besides, the woman who was interested in renting the apartment from us beginning – tomorrow! – has seemed to drop off the face of the earth.  We mailed her all the paperwork and answers to her questions and we cannot get a return phone call from her for the past several weeks.  We do hope everything is okay with her, but need to now move on to find someone else to work with us over the winter.
