Saddlebrook Appaloosa Horses

• November 10, 2006 - Hit or Miss

Cookie and Frosty aren’t the only ones who play ring-around-the-rosey at feeding time. The really funny act happens with Fanny, Spice, Delight and Reverse. We put four hay piles down spaced apart so they all have their own meal. When they are all munching happily, Fanny moves over to Spice’s pile (everyone else’s hay is tastier) then Spice goes to Delight’s pile and, you guessed it, Reverse walks over to Fanny’s. On and on it goes like a merry-go-round until Fanny has tasted everyone’s hay and decided that hers was OK after all. We should start calling her Goldilocks!!

We had some server scares earlier this week.  For a while the Appaloosa.org site was missing and I got a call from our host company that the hard drive had crashed…again.  Luckily this time everything could be moved over to a new drive and we were back up and running in a few hours.  The Buddy site is on a different server and was also down for a while from some other network problems they were having.

Close, but no cigar.  Luke looked great but did not get a Top Ten in Hunter in Hand at Worlds.  It is disappointing, investing all that time and money to get him this far.   If you remember, we waited on a horse hauler who promised to pick him up in April…and then May, and finally we had to ditch him and go with someone else to get him to the trainer in Nebraska.  By summer much of the show year was already in full swing and he still had much to learn. Ideally we would have had him under saddle at the World Show in Hunter classes to see what he can really do, but it was not to be. Then we had more months of training on him and decided to show him in a ground class anyway, but pretty disappointed in the result.  On the bright side, Luke is looking great and moving well.  He is fit and healthy and we are really looking forward to getting him home to Saddlebrook.

Well, it’s a done deal and Romeo is going to his new owner sometime before Christmas, most likely. Cindy T ‘fessed up on how special Romeo is to her so I think this will be an emotional departure all around. He will be raised and trained by a mounted police officer. What an interesting, useful life he will have!  Better and healthier and less stressful as a gelding, and doing something so worthwhile.  But he will be missed, for sure!
