Spice was ultrasounded today and it’s official – she is pregnant! About 14 days, right on schedule. The vet found a nice, tiny embryo (just one, that’s good – no twin to worry about.) So, we are very excited. Fanny had already *just* ovulated when she was bred again last week, so it’s anyone’s guess as to whether she will conceive or not. She will be checked next week.
Poor Frosty Girl looks as though she is pulling an abscess on her back left foot. She is very tender and Bill soaked it late tonight in warm Epsom salt water and gave her some bute to make her more comfortable throughout the night. We should know by tomorrow if it is an abscess, but it sure looks like the beginning of one. That’s the best possible thing, because at least as soon as it erupts she will feel much better. A few soaks will keep it going in the right direction and prevent infection.
Go Bob (Greatest Golf Cart in the Midwest) has returned!! He is fixed - “slower but more reliable” - we had to laugh when we heard that one! Aren’t we all?!?!? Anyway, now we can cart hay bales to al the feeding areas easier and more quickly than what we’d been doing, and fast trips down to the barn like in a rainstorm can go lickety split. We thought of Buddy Gail today and our wild midnight GoBob ride to the barn a few years ago to see her mare foal - Gail, sorry to say…GoBob will not go airborne over the little ridge any longer!
It’s time for Luke to get his game on for show season, so Bill took him over to Andy & Elizabeth’s for some brush up training. Luke is eager to get to work and is a fast learner, so we are looking forward to seeing him get in shape for the summer
Thanks for watching,
