Saddlebrook Appaloosa Horses

• July 7, 2007 - Dream a little dream

Our visitors last weekend, Stacey and Leo, have settled on Luke as the horse of their dreams, and we are close to an agreement on his becoming a Kentucky resident.  Normally we would not talk about a purchase until it is all finalized, but this is a positive work in progress and we are sure mentioning it will not jynx things.  We just couldn’t be happier with the quality, loving home that they will give him and the kind of good people that they are. It’s a great match.  AND…they got engaged on the way here! Our happy congratulations to them both, and we hope they will be able to join us for the BuddyBash so you can all meet them.

Roxy and Moxy were in the bee pasture today. It took her all day (too busy scraping up the stubbles of grass) but Roxy figured out that trees maybe don’t taste half bad either. The tree near the bees started rustling and moving and we looked out the window to find her wrestling off a tender branch overhanging the fence. She chewed it up and then decided grass is a better way to go after all!

Up until just a few days ago, we had 12 days straight with no rain and things really got brown and dry.  Our hay field, however, is lush and green because it has a mix of timothy, alfalfa and broam planted, and the roots run deeper than in many other hay fields with a different mix.  We should get a good second cutting towards the end of the month.

All the babies are doing great. Sport and Chief are now in the backyard pasture together and are very calm and cute. It’s a little funny, but because of the way we had to place everyone in various pastures and paddocks, Cookie and Frosty ended up right next to their foals! They had already been separated long enough so there was no big excitement and there is plenty of fence between them so everyone is happy. Moxy is getting big and is still as pretty and friendly as ever. She is now sporting the “Baby Mohawk” that they all have at this age. Her mane is not heavy enough yet to fall over, so it all sticks straight up in the air. Very cute!

Thanks for watching.
