All the horses are doing fine except for fighting off the gazillions of pesky flies we have now because of the recent rain and humidity. Some of them are wearing fly masks. The pregnant moms (Roxy, Fanny and Spice) are almost due for their four-month shots. They get vaccinated at around 4, 6, 8 and 10 months during their pregnancy to keep them and the babies healthy. Last weekend Fanny was shown in a couple of the roping classes. She won the reining class the first day and she won the calf roping the following day. We didn't show her in the rest of the classes as she is already qualified for the world show in those events. She still needs one more point in Hunter in hand and then we will be ready for the World's Best Appaloosa. I am showing her this weekend in Non Pro Reining. That is where you do a pattern with your horse. I of course must remember the pattern as there are different ones. This will be the most challenging part of the show. Fanny will do fine, I am not sure I will do the right pattern. Only time will tell. Wish me luck. The summer is going by lickety split. We went to the kids' school today for fall registration already. They will be back in school in less than three weeks. Drew is following in his siblings' footsteps and is becoming quite a good reader. It's amazing to see him working out words he doesn't know, like "Green gih-guy-jihGiant!" So cute. This morning he grabbed Joe's copy of Harry Potter book 7 (which Bill bought for him in Prague; it's got a really cool cover) and started reading complete sentences. His teacher will be impressed!
Thanks for watching,
