Everything went well last weekend at the Blackhawk Horse Show in Sterling, IL.    Spice was shown on Sunday.   We finished 4th in the Hunter in Hand out of 8, and second (out of two) in the Western Pleasure.  She actually did very well in both events, but many of the other horses just have more experience.  We will bring her back and have Nicole ride her some more.  She is really easy to work with and should improve quickly.

Another interesting thing happened this week.   The “Fonz”, Arthur Fonzarelli played by Henry Winkler, from the sitcom Happy Days got his statue in Milwaukee.  You might remember that Happy Days was set here and a local group raised enough money to make a bronze of the Fonz. We had an inquiry from a customer on Finnegan.  It looks like she is going to buy him.  It is harder to sell Finnegan since I spend so much time with him.   We have been talking to this person for many years, so I know it will be a good home.  She has watched many of the foalings on the BarnCam.  She almost bought Romeo, but he sold the day before she called.  The details are getting worked out, but he might leave as soon as next week.  L

We had a great time this past week at the Milwaukee County Zoo.  www.milwaukeezoo.org  We participated in the Aquatic Adventures Program.    The program allows you to interact with a California Sea Lion that was trained at the zoo.  You wear your swim suit and actually get in the water with this 500lb creature.   They taught us how they trained and feed them.  Then we worked with Slick the dominate male.  Under our guidance he performed some tricks!  His flippers were especially amazing!   We spent the rest of the day at the zoo.   It looks like they have really stepped up the corporate sponsorships.  There was a great new Giraffe exhibit which was funded by Miller.  It allowed you to get very close.  Sure helps kids and adults learn about the animals in a much better way than sitting in a classroom.
