Today we had a family come to look at Luke. Our former intern, Katie, works for them. They were very nice and Luke did everything he was supposed to do. He allowed the little girl to ride him, brush him and lead him without any problems. Nicole has worked extensively with Luke and done a fantastic job. He is back to the training level he was at in the late winter. Thanks Nicole!
Go- Bob, the golf cart, is having issues with his roof. Slowly but surely the canopy has been deteriorating. The cart is still working well; it is just the roof that is having issues. I hope to save it -if possible. So that will be 3 members of the family to undergo surgery this summer. Another option, Go-Bob might have to go topless. Hmmm…
Another issue facing the farm is that the CIHost that let us stream to the animal planet site decided to pull the free server. We really can't complain as they originally agreed to let us use it for one year, which has now turned into six. It is not a big deal at this point, but we need to get the Animal Planet feed moved over to the new files before spring.
String Thing Today we did a little horse stuff. Annie's owner was here to look at everyone. I showed them Sport, Spice, and the weanlings. They were excited to hear that Annie is still in foal. We measured all of the foals using a string from their knee to their hoof line. Elvis came out to 15 hands, and Finnegan, Sport and Trace all came out to 16 hands. We will have to see if this Old Wives' tale is true. : Take a soft cloth measuring tape (like the kind used for sewing) and measure from the middle of the knee to the coronet band. However many inches, is how tall in hands the horse will grow. Each 1/4 of an inch is equal to .1 hand. So if you get 14 3/4 inches, the horse will be about 14.3 15 1/2 inches, the horse will grow about 15.2 16 1/4 inches, the horse will be about 16.1
